Perspective Practice · Android
Pause between what happened and what it might mean.
A message shows as read and no reply comes. In the gap, most of us fill in a story. RAMA REFLECT slows that gap down using situations that are not yours, so there is nothing at stake while you practise.

One reflection, in full
Rather than describe it, here is the whole thing.
This is Seen, no reply, one of the thirty-six situations in the app, printed exactly as it is written there — including every explanation. It takes about 3 minutes on a phone.
You message a friend to check whether you are still meeting this evening. The message shows as read. Two hours later there is still no reply.
Separate
Seven statements come out of those three sentences. Three of them are established. Two are readings laid on top. Two are gaps the situation never fills. Sorting them is the whole exercise.
The message shows as read.
The app has confirmed the message was opened. That is on the screen in front of you.
Two hours have passed since it was opened.
Elapsed time is measurable, and it is one of the few things this situation actually settles.
There has been no reply.
This describes what has happened without adding anything to it.
They are annoyed with you.
This may turn out to be true, but a read receipt and a gap in time do not establish it. It is a reading laid over the situation rather than part of it.
They do not care about the plan.
A conclusion about what someone values, drawn from two hours of quiet. Nothing here reports what they care about.
You do not know what they have been doing since they opened it.
The situation gives no account of their afternoon at all. Naming that gap stops it being filled in quietly.
You do not know whether they took the message in or only glanced at it.
‘Read’ is a technical event. What it meant to them is not recorded anywhere you can see.
Expand
Five readings, all of which fit the same three sentences. None is offered as the answer — the point is that the evidence does not yet pick one.
- They may have opened it while busy and meant to answer properly later.
- Their own evening may have changed and they may not have worked out what to say yet.
- The message may have been opened without being taken in.
- They may be unsure about the plan and putting off answering.
- They may have put the phone down and lost the thread of the day.
Choose
Four possible next steps. Each is described by what it tends to open or close — not marked right or wrong, and not scored.
Send one clear follow-up asking whether this evening still works.
This asks for the one thing that is actually missing — whether the plan stands — without treating any interpretation as settled. It is also the shortest route to knowing.
- Escalating
Send several messages asking why you are being ignored.
This treats being ignored as established, and it asks about motive rather than about the plan. Two hours of quiet does not carry that weight yet, and a question about motive is hard to answer without friction.
- Assuming
Decide the friendship matters less to them than it does to you.
This is a large conclusion about a relationship built on one gap in one conversation. It also closes the question, so whatever happens next cannot correct it.
- Withdrawing
Say nothing and keep waiting, even though you need an answer before this evening.
Waiting is reasonable when nothing depends on the answer. Here something does — you need to know whether to go out — so staying quiet leaves your own need unaddressed.
Review
It ends with one sentence to carry into the next real conversation. No score, no profile, nothing to compare against.
Name what you do not know before deciding what it means.
Thirty-five more, across six collections. The situations change; the five steps do not.
The same five steps, every time.
One engine runs all thirty-six scenarios, so the structure becomes familiar and the situation is the only thing that changes.

Notice
Read what happened. Only what is written is established.
- 02
Separate
Sort each detail into what you know, what you are reading in, and what is missing.
- 03
Expand
Consider other readings that fit the very same facts.
- 04
Choose
Pick a next step, and see what that kind of step tends to do.

Close with one short practice principle you can keep.
Every screen below is a real capture.
Taken from the built Android app running on a device — not a mock-up, and not a redrawing. The progress in them was earned by working through the app.
